Redondo Beach dog owners seek additional off-leash dog park

Redondo Beach California dog owners are not content with one dog park, and are lobbying city officials an additional dog park, near condominium residential units.

Like many other municipalities in this country, the controversy seems to be between dog owners who see the need for areas to have their dog run off leash, and other residents of the city who say public parks are for people and not dogs.

The propose new park would be at Czuleger Park, a relatively small size Park, which sits near the densely populated Village condominiums. The current off-leash dog area is located near Flagler Lane and 190th Street, at Dominguez Park. Those opposed to the new park say that owners frequently do not pick up waste, and that the dogs occasionally are not under sufficient control. The issue is certainly an emotive issue for this   relatively affluent Southern California beach community, as evident in the statement by a city council member who was quoted "Parks are for people and kids….Zoos are for animals."
